Recently widowed Julieta plans to escape Madrid for a new life in Portugal, but a chance meeting with a childhood friend of her estranged daughter, Antía, turns her plans on their head. Antía has disappeared and so Julieta vows to put aside her grief and do all she can to find her daughter. The more she searches, the more Julieta realises she doesn’t really know her daughter at all.
‘Told in flashback over 30 years of guilt and grief, this tender melodrama is Pedro Almodóvar's best film in a decade.’
