The Kids are All Right (15)
The Kids Are All Right focuses on a lesbian couple (Nic and Jules) who each have a child conceived by a sperm bank donor. Both Joni, 18, and Laser, 15, have a strong curiosity as to the identity of their father. After a couple of phone calls and confidentiality agreements, the donor father named Paul agrees to meet with both Joni and Laser, and while their first meeting is a bit awkward they want to continue the contact. Nic and Jules find out about this and also decide to meet Paul. The new relationships become a bit of a challenge all round – but not without their lighter moments – and the family’s American suburban lifestyle and home may suffer as a result.
The Guardian: "The Kids Are All Right is a wise, sensible and extremely moving film about mutual affection, responsibility, sharing lives, growing up and growing old."
